DSTV Explora vs HD Decoder: Which Do You Need?

Two questions to ask yourself before you buy a decoder: how many TVs do you want DSTV on, and do you want to record?
The Explora is the recording-and-streaming decoder. It has apps like Showmax and Netflix built in, records live TV, and works as the main decoder in an Extra View setup.
An HD decoder is single-view, no recording, no apps — but it's cheaper and perfect as a secondary decoder in a bedroom or guest room, linked to an Explora via Extra View.
For most households we recommend one Explora Ultra as the main decoder and HD decoders in additional rooms.
