DSTV Showing 'No Signal'? Common Causes and Fixes
Nine times out of ten it's one of four things — here's how we work through it.
The 'no signal' message on your DSTV screen almost always comes down to one of four things: dish alignment, LNB failure, cabling or the decoder itself.
After a windy night in the Cape, the first suspect is dish alignment — even a small nudge is enough to lose satellite lock. A quick visual check for a tilted dish is usually enough to confirm.
If the dish looks fine, the LNB (the receiver at the end of the arm) is next. LNBs are exposed and fail with age. Swapping one is a 15-minute job for a technician with the right spare on the van.
Cabling and connectors are the third category — especially rusted F connectors at the dish. From there, it's the decoder itself: a hard restart clears about half of decoder-only faults.
